Hammudid dynasty

1016–1058 · 11th century · Also known as Hammudids, Banu Hammud

The Hammudids were a Berber-backed Arab dynasty of Idrisid descent that briefly held the caliphate of Córdoba between 1016 and 1027 during the civil war that broke up al-Andalus. They then ruled the Taifa of Málaga and Algeciras, claiming the caliphal title, and led an alliance of Berber taifas against Seville until the Zirids of Granada took Málaga in 1057.
