Aljustrel

Aljustrel is a town in the Beja district of the Alentejo in southern Portugal, in the Iberian Pyrite Belt. Its copper and silver deposits were worked in Roman times at the mining district of Vipasca, where bronze tablets preserving imperial mining regulations were found in 1876 and 1906. Mining has continued into modern times, and the town remains a centre of the Portuguese mining industry.
