The All-India Muslim League was a political party founded at Dhaka in 1906 to represent the interests of Muslims in British India. Under Muhammad Ali Jinnah it adopted the Lahore Resolution of 1940 calling for separate Muslim states, and its success in the 1946 elections led to the creation of Pakistan in 1947, after which it became the ruling party there.
