Amadocus II

fl. 359–351 BCE · 4th century BCE

Amadocus II was one of the three kings among whom the Odrysian Kingdom was divided after the murder of Cotys I in 360 BCE, ruling the central part between his rivals Cersobleptes in the east and Berisades in the west. Athens and Philip II of Macedon played the three rulers against one another, a division that weakened Odrysian power until Philip brought most of Thrace under Macedonian control in the 340s BCE.
