Cersobleptes

fl. 359–341 BCE · 4th century BCE · Also known as Kersebleptes

Cersobleptes was a son of Cotys I and the most powerful of the three kings among whom the Odrysian Kingdom was divided in 360 BCE, ruling its eastern part. Aided by the mercenary commander Charidemus, he contested the Thracian Chersonese with Athens before ceding it. Philip II of Macedon defeated him in 342–341 BCE and annexed most of his lands, ending Odrysian independence for a time.
