Amharic
Amharic is a Semitic language of Ethiopia, written in the Ge'ez script, and the working language of the Ethiopian federal government. It was the language of the court and administration of the Ethiopian Empire from the Middle Ages. Its imposition in schools and government in Eritrea during the federation of the 1950s was one of the grievances that fed Eritrean nationalism.
