Amoghapasa

Also known as Amoghapāśa

Amoghapasa is a form of the bodhisattva Avalokiteshvara in Mahayana and Vajrayana Buddhism, whose name refers to his unfailing noose for saving beings. He was especially honoured in Java and Sumatra in the 13th and 14th centuries. A famous statue of him, sent in 1286 by King Kertanegara of Singhasari to Dharmasraya in Sumatra, bears the Padang Roco inscription and a later inscription of Adityawarman.
