Anabasis of Antiochus III

212–205 BCE · 3rd century BCE

The Anabasis of Antiochus III was the great eastern campaign of the Seleucid king Antiochus III from 212 to 205 BCE. He marched through Armenia, Parthia and Bactria and reached the borders of India, reasserting Seleucid authority over rulers who had broken away. The campaign earned him the title 'the Great', although many of the gains proved temporary.
