Andahuaylas
Andahuaylas is a town in the Apurímac region of the southern Peruvian Andes, west of Cusco on the old route to Ayacucho. Before the Incas it was the heart of the Chanka confederation, whose attack on Cusco around 1438, by Inca tradition, prompted the rise of Pachacuti. Under Spanish rule it was an important colonial town of the southern highlands.
