Anglo-Maratha Wars
The Anglo-Maratha Wars were three wars fought between the British East India Company and the Maratha Confederacy between 1775 and 1818. The first ended inconclusively, but the second and third broke Maratha military power. The final war in 1817–1818 brought the end of the Peshwa's rule and the decline of the Maratha Empire, leaving the British dominant in India.
