Anglo-Persian Agreement
The Anglo-Persian Agreement was a treaty negotiated in August 1919 between Britain, led by Lord Curzon, and the government of Vosuq od-Dowleh in Qajar Iran. It would have given Britain control of Iran's army and finances through advisers in return for a loan, amounting to a virtual protectorate. Widely opposed in Iran and abroad, it was never ratified by the Majlis and was abandoned in 1921.
