1872–1925 · 20th century · Also known as Mohammad Ali Shah

Mohammad Ali Shah Qajar was shah of Iran from 1907 to 1909. Hostile to the new constitution, he had the Persian Cossack Brigade bombard the Majlis in June 1908, starting a civil war in which constitutionalists held out in Tabriz. In July 1909 forces from Gilan and the Bakhtiari tribes took Tehran and deposed him in favour of his son Ahmad Shah; he died in exile in Italy.
