Arica
Arica is a port city in the far north of Chile, near the border with Peru. Long part of Peru and an outlet for silver and trade from Bolivia, it was occupied by Chile during the War of the Pacific after the storming of the Morro de Arica in 1880. Its fate was disputed for decades until the Treaty of Lima of 1929 gave Arica to Chile and Tacna to Peru.
