Arnau Mir de Tost

c. 1000–1072 · 11th century

Arnau Mir de Tost was a Catalan frontier lord who led the conquest and resettlement of lands taken from the Muslim taifas in the 11th century. After capturing Àger in 1034 he built a large lordship around it, later the Viscounty of Àger, and founded the canonry of Sant Pere d'Àger. He served the counts of Urgell and Barcelona, and his daughter's marriage tied him to the counts of Pallars Jussà.
