Asclepieion of Kos
The Asclepieion of Kos was a healing sanctuary of the god Asclepius on terraces above the town of Kos in the Dodecanese. Built from the 4th century BCE, after the Coans founded their new capital in 366 BCE, it combined temples, porticoes and rooms for the sick, and was associated with the medical tradition of Hippocrates. Its terraced ruins were excavated in the early 20th century.
