Assynt

Assynt is a mountainous district on the west coast of Sutherland in the north-west Highlands of Scotland, centred on the village of Lochinver. Its isolated peaks, such as Suilven, rise from some of the oldest rocks in Europe. In 1993 its crofters bought the estate on which they lived, a landmark in Scottish community land ownership.
