Athena Polias

Athena Polias, 'Athena of the city', was the form of the goddess Athena worshipped as protector of a Greek city. At Athens her ancient olive-wood statue in the Erechtheion received a new robe at the Panathenaia, and other cities, such as Priene, built temples to her. The Ionic Temple of Athena Polias at Priene was dedicated by Alexander the Great.
