1863–1932 · 20th century · Also known as Augusto Bernardino Leguía

Augusto B. Leguía was a Peruvian businessman and politician who was president of Peru from 1908 to 1912 and again from 1919 to 1930. His second rule, the Oncenio, began with a coup, centralised power and financed roads, ports and public works in Lima with heavy borrowing in the United States, and it settled border disputes with Chile and Colombia. He was overthrown by Luis Sánchez Cerro in 1930 and died in prison in 1932.
