Aventine Hill

The Aventine is the southernmost of the seven hills of Rome, beside the Tiber. Outside the sacred boundary of the early city until the reign of Claudius, it was associated with the plebeians and housed temples of Diana, Ceres and Juno Regina, as well as the cult of Vertumnus brought from Volsinii after 264 BCE.
