Badr ibn Hasanwayh

r. 979–1014 · 10th century

Badr ibn Hasanwayh was the most prominent ruler of the Kurdish Hasanwayhid dynasty in the central Zagros, governing from 979 to 1014 under nominal Buyid overlordship. The Abbasid caliph gave him the title Nasir al-Dawla. Chroniclers praised him for building mosques, bridges and caravanserais and for his charity. He was killed by his own troops in 1014, and the dynasty soon declined.
