Bamenda

Bamenda is a city in the Grassfields of north-western Cameroon and the capital of the North-West Region. It grew from a German military station established in the early 20th century near older Grassfields kingdoms such as Bafut, Mankon and Bali-Nyonga, and became an administrative centre of the British-ruled Southern Cameroons. It is the chief city of Cameroon's English-speaking north-west.
