Banu Hashim
Banu Hashim was a clan of the Quraysh tribe of Mecca, named after Hashim ibn Abd Manaf, the great-grandfather of the Prophet Muhammad. It held the right to provide food and water for pilgrims to the Kaaba. The Abbasid caliphs and many later dynasties, including the Hashemite kings of Jordan, claimed descent from it.
