Banu Kinana
The Banu Kinana are an Arab tribal group of western Arabia, from which the Quraysh, the tribe of the Prophet Muhammad, descended. Kinana clans took part in the early Islamic conquests and settled across Syria, Iraq and Egypt. The Banu Munqidh, lords of Shaizar in northern Syria in the 11th and 12th centuries, traced their descent from this tribe.
