Battle of Chamdo
The Battle of Chamdo was fought in October 1950 in eastern Tibet, when the People's Liberation Army crossed the Jinsha River and defeated the Tibetan army around the town of Chamdo, capturing the regional governor Ngapoi Ngawang Jigme. The defeat left Lhasa without effective defences and led to the Seventeen Point Agreement of 1951, by which Tibet was incorporated into the People's Republic of China.
