Battle of Gegodog

1676 · 17th century · Part of the Trunajaya rebellion

The Battle of Gegodog was fought in October 1676 near Tuban on the north coast of Java during the Trunajaya rebellion. Madurese and Makassarese forces under Trunajaya defeated a large Mataram army led by the crown prince, the future Amangkurat II. The defeat opened the way for the rebels' capture of the capital Plered in 1677 and the flight of Amangkurat I.
