Plered

1640s–1680 · 17th century

Plered was the capital of the Mataram Sultanate in Java under Amangkurat I, who moved his court there from nearby Kerta in the 1640s. Lying south-east of present-day Yogyakarta, it had a walled palace and an artificial lake. It was sacked by the rebel Trunajaya in 1677, and the court moved to Kartasura in 1680.
