Battle of Sabilla

1929 · 20th century · Also known as Battle of Sibilla · Part of the Ikhwan revolt

The Battle of Sabilla was fought on 29 March 1929 in Najd, central Arabia, between the forces of Ibn Saud and the Ikhwan, the tribal religious warriors who had helped him conquer Arabia but rebelled against his ban on raiding into Iraq and Kuwait and his acceptance of modern innovations. Ibn Saud's victory broke the Ikhwan revolt, which was finally crushed early in 1930.
