Battle of Tsushima

1905 · 20th century · Part of the Russo-Japanese War

The Battle of Tsushima was a naval battle fought in May 1905 in the strait between Korea and Japan, the decisive engagement of the Russo-Japanese War. The Japanese fleet under Admiral Togo destroyed the Russian fleet that had sailed from the Baltic. The defeat was a humiliation for the Russian Empire and contributed to the unrest of the 1905 revolution.
