Battleford
Battleford is a town in Saskatchewan, Canada, where the Battle River meets the North Saskatchewan. It was the capital of the North-West Territories from 1876 to 1883. During the North-West Resistance of 1885 its settlers took refuge in the North-West Mounted Police fort, and in November 1885 eight Cree and Assiniboine men were hanged there, the largest mass execution in Canadian history.
