Bhamo

Bhamo is a town in Kachin State in northern Myanmar, on the Irrawaddy River near the Chinese border. For centuries it was the river port for the caravan trade between Burma and Yunnan. It was the seat of a Shan state that joined the attack on Ava in 1527, and a base in the Sino-Burmese wars of the 1760s.
