Bharatas

Also known as Bharata tribe

The Bharatas were an Indo-Aryan tribe of the early Vedic period, prominent in the Rigveda, where their king Sudas defeats a coalition of tribes in the Battle of the Ten Kings. They later merged with the Purus to form the Kuru tribe of the upper Ganges–Yamuna region. Their name lives on in Bharat, the official Sanskrit name of India.
