Blohm & Voss
Blohm & Voss is a shipbuilding company founded in Hamburg in 1877 by Hermann Blohm and Ernst Voss. It built liners and warships and, in the Second World War, the battleship Bismarck and many U-boats, as well as aircraft through a subsidiary. Its yard on the Elbe opposite the city centre remains one of Hamburg's landmarks.
