Blutritt

Also known as Blood Ride of Weingarten

The Blutritt, or Blood Ride, is a mounted procession held each year on the Friday after Ascension Day at Weingarten in upper Swabia, Germany. Thousands of riders accompany a relic of the Holy Blood, believed to contain the blood of Christ, which Judith of Flanders gave to Weingarten Abbey in 1094. It is one of the largest equestrian processions in Europe.
