Boa Amponsem
Boa Amponsem was a king of Denkyira, in what is now southern Ghana, who reigned in the second half of the 17th century. Under him Denkyira became the leading Akan state, taking tribute from many neighbours, including the early Asante chiefdoms, and controlling trade with the Europeans on the coast. His successor Ntim Gyakari was defeated by Osei Tutu of Asante at Feyiase in 1701.
