Bondoukou
Bondoukou is a town in north-eastern Côte d'Ivoire near the border with Ghana. An old centre of Dyula Muslim traders on the route between the Akan goldfields and the middle Niger, it lay at the heart of the Abron Kingdom of Gyaman, whose kings held court nearby. It came under French rule at the end of the 19th century and is known for its many old mosques.
