Bono Manso
Bono Manso was the capital of the Akan kingdom of Bono, near modern Techiman in central Ghana. It lay where the savanna meets the forest, close to gold-bearing lands, and grew as a market for Mande merchants trading gold and kola. Archaeological work shows occupation from around the 14th century. The town was destroyed after Asante conquered Bono in the 1720s.
