Bouxwiller
Bouxwiller, in German Buchsweiler, is a small town in northern Alsace, in the Bas-Rhin department of France. From the late 15th century it was the capital of the County of Hanau-Lichtenberg, governed from its castle, and from 1736 it passed with the county to the landgraves of Hesse-Darmstadt. The town came under French sovereignty with Alsace and kept a strong Lutheran tradition.
