Kehl

Kehl is a town in Baden-Württemberg, Germany, on the east bank of the Rhine opposite Strasbourg, to which it is linked by bridges and a tram line. For centuries it guarded the Rhine crossing and was fortified and fought over in the wars between France and the Empire. It belonged to the counts of Hanau-Lichtenberg and later to Baden.
