Buôn Ma Thuột
Buôn Ma Thuột, known in the colonial period as Ban Me Thuot, is the main city of the Central Highlands of Vietnam. Under French rule it was the administrative centre of the highland Crown Domain, the Hoàng triều cương thổ, and of the coffee and rubber plantations of Đắk Lắk. Its capture by North Vietnamese forces in March 1975 opened the offensive that ended the Vietnam War.
