Buoso da Dovara

13th century · 13th century

Buoso da Dovara was a Ghibelline nobleman who dominated Cremona in the mid-13th century, at times jointly with Uberto Pallavicino. Entrusted with defending Lombardy against Charles of Anjou's army in 1265, he was accused of taking bribes to let it pass, and Dante placed him among the traitors in the Inferno. He was later driven from Cremona by the Guelphs.
