Bureau of Military Affairs
The Bureau of Military Affairs was one of the three central organs of government of the Song Dynasty, alongside the Secretariat-Chancellery and the Finance Commission. It was headed by civilian officials and oversaw military administration. The overlapping jurisdictions of these councils were designed to prevent any single official from accumulating excessive power.
