The Burma Socialist Programme Party was the ruling party of Burma under Ne Win. Founded by the Revolutionary Council in 1962, it became the sole legal party in 1964 and under the 1974 constitution ruled the Socialist Republic of the Union of Burma, following the ideology of the 'Burmese Way to Socialism'. It was swept away by the uprising and military takeover of 1988.
