Institution
Byedaik
The Byedaik was the privy council of the Burmese kings, which handled the monarch's private affairs and served as an inner office between the palace and the Hluttaw, the council of state. Under the Konbaung dynasty its ministers, the atwinwun, controlled access to the king and grew influential at court. The institution ended with the British annexation of Upper Burma in 1885.
