Chaghaniyan
Chaghaniyan was a medieval principality in the valley of the Surkhan Darya, in present-day southern Uzbekistan, north of the Amu Darya. Ruled by local princes titled Chaghan Khudah, it was one of the lordships of Tokharistan under the Western Turks before the Arab conquests of the 8th century. Under the Samanids its Muhtajid dynasty remained powerful governors.
