Chebar
The Chebar was a canal near Nippur in southern Babylonia, called the 'great canal' in cuneiform records of the Persian period. In the Book of Ezekiel the prophet lives among the Judean exiles settled by the Chebar and sees his visions there. The communities of deportees along such canals kept their own leaders and identity during the Babylonian captivity.
