Choros (Oirats)

The Choros are a clan of the Oirat Mongols and one of the four main groups of the Four Oirat confederation. In the 17th century their leaders founded and ruled the Dzungar Khanate, which dominated Central Asia until the Qing conquest of 1755 to 1758. Esen Taishi, who briefly ruled Mongolia in the 15th century, also belonged to the Choros.
