Chorotega
The Chorotega are an Indigenous people of the Pacific coast of Central America, living at the Spanish conquest in what are now western Nicaragua and the Nicoya peninsula of Costa Rica. Speakers of an Oto-Manguean language related to languages of southern Mexico, they are thought to have migrated south around 800 CE. They grew maize, cacao and cotton and made fine polychrome pottery and carved stone metates.
