Chyhyryn
Chyhyryn is a small town on the Tiasmyn river in the Cherkasy region of central Ukraine. Under Bohdan Khmelnytsky it became the residence of the hetman and the capital of the Cossack Hetmanate from the late 1640s. It was fought over by the Ottomans and Russians in the Chyhyryn campaigns of 1677–1678, when it was largely destroyed, and it is now a national historical site.
