Bohdan Khmelnytsky

Bohdan Khmelnytsky was a Cossack leader who led a major uprising in Ukraine against the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth from 1648. The revolt caused catastrophic losses and led to an alliance with Muscovy. His forces were among the invaders during the Deluge of 1655–1660, which devastated the Commonwealth and accelerated its decline.
