Cox's Bazar

Cox's Bazar is a town and district on the south-eastern coast of Bangladesh, near the border with Myanmar, known for its long sandy beach on the Bay of Bengal. It is named after Hiram Cox, an officer of the East India Company who resettled Arakanese refugees there in the 1790s. Since 2017 the district has held camps sheltering about a million Rohingya refugees from Myanmar.
